Having started our real estate careers in 2001, our experience is vast and varied.  We’ve owned our own boutique agency and we’ve also worked for other agencies and big companies over the years.  This time, the one thing we decided we wanted to do was to improve on a few areas that we knew was often discussed when we met with sellers.  

We also joined forces with FLP Real Estate as they’re a great agency that embraces the same values that we do.  By the way, FLP stands for Friendly Local People and that’s exactly what we’re all about!

Fair Commission Rates

Real estate commissions are now deregulated.  It was:  5% of the first $18,000 plus 2% of the balance of sale price plus GST.

Nowadays, agents are now free to charge whatever they like, and they do from 2.5% to as high as 3.5% and more.

In 2017, the average Brisbane house price is closer to $600,000.  While in Ipswich the average house price is $360,000.  However, agents are still charging 2.5% plus.

That’s a major rise in agent fees and as high as 400% in some areas.

Is it harder to sell a property now? … Nope – in fact, it’s easier today, because we have the internet and sites like realestate.com.au domain.com.au … plus social media.

Reality is that most of the 2.5% that you pay to an agent to sell your property goes back into maintaining the agency’s overheads, the premium offices, those beautiful luxury vehicles.  We know, we’ve had the boutique office and the beautiful BMW’s.   

We’d like to break this trend of ever-increasing agent fees. By avoiding unnecessary expenses and focusing our efforts on delivering better results for our clients, we can pass on lower fees and ultimately put more money back into your pocket when you sell.
